Our website was updated with over 900 HD screencaptures of Emma’s most recent released project, Aloha. The film, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, features Emma as Allison Ng, a hard-nosed fighter pilot who watches every move that Brian (Bradley Cooper) makes.
Last month, during an interview, Emma addressed some controversy about her casting, since Allison is a quarter Hawaiian and a quarter Chinese.
“I’ve become the butt of many jokes,” she said, referring to her role in Aloha. “I’ve learned on a macro level about the insane history of whitewashing in Hollywood and how prevalent the problem truly is. It’s ignited a conversation that’s very important.”
In defense of her casting, she offered: “The character was not supposed to look like her background which was a quarter Hawaiian and a quarter Chinese.”
“There’s a lot of conversation about how we want to see people represented on screen and what we need to change as a business to reflect culture in a clearer way and not in an idealised way. There are some flaws in the system,” she says. “My eyes have been opened in many ways this year.”
On Aloha, Emma co-stars alongside Rachel McAdams, Bradley Cooper, John Krazinski, Bill Murray, Danny McBride, Alec Baldwin, Jaeden Lieberher, and Danielle Rose Russell. The film is already released on Blu-Ray/DVD and also on Digital HD in U.S.A, and will hit cinemas in the U.K. on September 18th.
